Since my original plan to travel the USA through Alabama, I have changed and adapted a lot of my journey and mad it a little different towards my own taste. I am travelling with my friend Jodi Chan as she has earned a well deserved holiday, and it has been a long time since I travelled with a friend.
Can I just please say that usually when I travel I do not plan what I am going to do in advance because I just find it so much more fun getting here and exploring what the city itself has to offer. However, on this one occasion, I have found that NYC has just too much to offer in terms of sightseeing. Due to this, I have definitely decided to make a little plan and I thought it would be fun to write a small everyday dairy of what is happens throughout my stay.
So far, our time has largely been orientated around food. I know, I know, it sounds rather random but I am a complete foodie. Don’t get me wrong I don’t eat much, but I nibble throughout the day which makes it a little less heavy on my stomach. One thing which I will say about the US is that so far I am missing eating salad. But that’s cool because we want to a local supermarket and stocked up on some of our own bits and pieces to nibble on throughout our stay! – the perfect way to save money.
New York – Day one
Grand Central Terminal
You haven’t been to New York if you haven’t been to Grand Central Station. The main reason why I wanted to go is that of how many famous scenes are actually recorded there. Two of my favourite are gossip girl and the avenger. Some others which you guys may recognise are Men in Black, The Legend, Old Dogs, The Fisher King, Person of Interest. I am not a crazy movie fanatic, but everyone likes visiting a famous place. That’s the point of the 7 wonders of the world right? 😛
Empire State Building
Today we didn’t do as much as we wanted recovery time from our flight. However, we still managed to explore a little of Manhattan. Our first go to was the Empire state building. the view of NYC is just amazing. We managed to get a deal with our City Pass tickets where we can have two viewing of the empire state, one during the day and one at night – both very different experiences And so we went up 86 floors to get an amazing view. What did amaze me is how fast the Empire state was actually built! It only took 410 days to put up. I don’t know if that worries me a little, but gosh, humans are awesome when they tag team!
Okay, this one actually came as a surprise to me. I am the biggest bookworm ever. BUT how did I miss that there is an actual AMAZON BOOKSTORE?! This actually made my day. I pretty much walk into heaven when I see a good bookstore. Of course, I went in and came out with two books, but I have no idea where I am going to store them in my backpack! Wish me luck!
If you guys have any more cool places that you think I should visit then feel free to give me a shout! I’ll definitely be looking to explore more 😛
